Welcome to For No One.

As you may have read in the “About” page, this is a blog for no one.

What I mean when I say “this blog is for no one,” is that I’m recovering people pleaser, and it can be very difficult for me to produce written content without worrying about what other people think of it and, as an extension, me. This worry comes from my high school blogging days where I would announce a posting schedule and then feel immense guilt when I couldn’t follow through. Also from a writing teacher in college whose approach to criticism was to take the hearts of young speculative fiction writers and grind them in her mortar and pestle to make ink for her red pens.

It took several years for me to grow back my heart for storytelling, and several years after that for my heart to convince my brain that I should try blogging again. After several long and arduous months of analyzing the idea from every conceivable angle, my brain agreed, but only if we employed gaslighting to convince ourselves that this blog is for no one.

Unnecessary royal we and metaphor aside, I am trying to convince myself that this blog is for no one. No one except for myself. I want a corner of the Internet where I can express my creativity, where I can express my thoughts and opinions, where I can maybe say “fuck” every once in a while without worrying that someone will tell my mom on me.
